Wedding Couture | Stunning Video – Remembering Your Big Day!!

When it comes to the must haves for your wedding, everyone has their opinions.  And while its important to listen to the key people in your life, ultimately remember it is YOUR day to enjoy with your new husband.  The things you will remember, should be the things that are most important to you.

While flowers wilt and die, the reception will be long forgotten, the decorations are a fleeting moment, your wedding video is one item you can cherish forever, sit back and reminisce about your big day in vivid color.  Picking the best videographer for your style is key.  There are many cinematic options, so look for what is appealing to your eye as you watch sample videos.

Here is one resonates loudly with me! While it is not strictly related to the event of the big day, it’s more a picture of the couple while capturing vivid and colorful images of the ceremony with such detail you feel you could reach out and live it all again!

So what do you think?

Invitation Couture | Breathtaking Moments

Ladies, Ladies, Ladies, I have a beautiful post for you today. Breathtaking moments, not only for you and your family, but for your guest the first moment they are welcomed to your joyous celebration to come. Some people look at invitations as just a piece of paper that tells your guest about your upcoming nuptials, but I believe wedding invitations are the promise of what is to come! The invitation is a small glimpse of what guest will experience at your wedding. Elegance and sophistication, simple or extravagant your invitation shines a light to your big day.

Persian, South Asian, Chaldean and any other bride take note, as these are sights to be held and cherished from the moment they arrive. Setting the ambiance and expectations of your guest arrives the minute they receive your invitation. And as our good friends at Maharani Weddings mentioned when they turned us on to Alia Designs, “there are invitations, and then there are INVIATIONS”!!!!!

I wanted to save the best for last, but honestly, how can I these are all just stunning. So here are a couple of my personal favorite . . . at least for the moment. Subject to change in the next 10 minutes.

Cultural Couture | Persian Cake Cutting

Leave it to the beauty of the Persian culture to bring more excitement to the age old tradition of cake cutting. The elaborate tradition that has surfaced in more recent years encourages a level of playfulness for the bride and groom prior to every getting the knife. Persian knife dancing — Raghseh Chagoo. Those words conjure images of ornately clad women wearing colorful scarves and skirts, chain and coin belts delicately balancing large swords on their heads as the dance around a room. To my disappointment, it does not involve such an elaborate display (but certainly would make a great option!)

Of course I have scoured the internet to find you a few video examples. I just love the groom’s job of convincing the bride’s family representatives to give him the knife. A playful dance, set to music, ensues and is much like a lighthearted fencing match where the groom is expected to pay out money in order to impress the knife-holder who will then hand over the utensil . . . or not yet. It’s a teasing, funny tradition I am absolutely in love with!

Persian Cotton Candy (or Fairy Floss) also known as “Pashmak” would make an exotic gourmet favour for guests at your wedding or party. Available in various soft hues and flavours including Rose, Pistachio, and Vanilla, Pashmak resembles soft wisps of hair and looks really fab inside these transluscent paper envelopes. Read more for instructions and to download your free envelope template and assorted coloured labels.

Interested in the packaging? Amy designed these delights. Head over to Amy’s blog for the instructional details.

It’s a simple DIY project for anyone with time on their side. Check out the basics below:

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Pashmak – I’ve used Vanilla (aqua label), Rose (pink label) and Pistachio (green label) flavours from Pariya. You can opt to use only one flavour with different coloured labels or even the same coloured label throughout- whatever suits the style of your wedding/party. Pashmak is not cheap, however you only need to give a small amount per guest.
  • Transluscent Paper with white polka dots for the envelopes.
  • White printable sticker paper or white card for labels- I’ve used a textured white card.
  • Double sided tape or glue.
  • Scalpel and Scissors.
  • Colour Printer.
  • Rounded corner punch – for envelopes
  • Small clear plastic sealable bags- these will need to fit inside the transluscent bag. (If they are too long they can always be folded back slightly).
  • Label design in assorted colours- download below.
  • Envelope template- DOWNLOAD HERE

I think her label design is adorable and very adaptable for anyone’s taste!

Some things to keep in mind about Pashmak before deciding if this is a project you want to take on yourself, or talk to your wedding planner about assisting you with:

  1. Pashmak should be stored in a dark, cool place in airtight containers.
  2. Best to package your favors at the last possible moment before your wedding or party (no sooner than the day before).
  3. Critical to store Pashmak inside a sealable bag within your packaging.
  4. Leave adequate time to experiment before the event to test whether leaving the Pashmak in your sealable bag will preserve well overnight.

If you guest have kids, they certainly will not have a problem finding a use for your Fairy Floss, it probably won’t last longer than one gulp!!!  But another great way to send you guest home with their new delight is including a cool and exotic recipe which incorporates this new treat!  Check out these from Gourmet Traveler:

Cool huh! I love the presentation of this delectable traditional item in simple and quaint envelopes for your guests! A memorable and sweet gift, even if your guests aren’t Persian! If you love the look, but don’t have the time to tackle it yourself, contact us, we delight in assisting with these favors!!!
