Persian Cotton Candy (or Fairy Floss) also known as “Pashmak” would make an exotic gourmet favour for guests at your wedding or party. Available in various soft hues and flavours including Rose, Pistachio, and Vanilla, Pashmak resembles soft wisps of hair and looks really fab inside these transluscent paper envelopes. Read more for instructions and to download your free envelope template and assorted coloured labels.

Interested in the packaging? Amy designed these delights. Head over to Amy’s blog for the instructional details.

It’s a simple DIY project for anyone with time on their side. Check out the basics below:

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Pashmak – I’ve used Vanilla (aqua label), Rose (pink label) and Pistachio (green label) flavours from Pariya. You can opt to use only one flavour with different coloured labels or even the same coloured label throughout- whatever suits the style of your wedding/party. Pashmak is not cheap, however you only need to give a small amount per guest.
  • Transluscent Paper with white polka dots for the envelopes.
  • White printable sticker paper or white card for labels- I’ve used a textured white card.
  • Double sided tape or glue.
  • Scalpel and Scissors.
  • Colour Printer.
  • Rounded corner punch – for envelopes
  • Small clear plastic sealable bags- these will need to fit inside the transluscent bag. (If they are too long they can always be folded back slightly).
  • Label design in assorted colours- download below.
  • Envelope template- DOWNLOAD HERE

I think her label design is adorable and very adaptable for anyone’s taste!

Some things to keep in mind about Pashmak before deciding if this is a project you want to take on yourself, or talk to your wedding planner about assisting you with:

  1. Pashmak should be stored in a dark, cool place in airtight containers.
  2. Best to package your favors at the last possible moment before your wedding or party (no sooner than the day before).
  3. Critical to store Pashmak inside a sealable bag within your packaging.
  4. Leave adequate time to experiment before the event to test whether leaving the Pashmak in your sealable bag will preserve well overnight.

If you guest have kids, they certainly will not have a problem finding a use for your Fairy Floss, it probably won’t last longer than one gulp!!!  But another great way to send you guest home with their new delight is including a cool and exotic recipe which incorporates this new treat!  Check out these from Gourmet Traveler:

Cool huh! I love the presentation of this delectable traditional item in simple and quaint envelopes for your guests! A memorable and sweet gift, even if your guests aren’t Persian! If you love the look, but don’t have the time to tackle it yourself, contact us, we delight in assisting with these favors!!!

Favors for All – Gold, Silver & Bronze

In the spirit of the Olympics, I wanted to find another way to tie in influences into your wedding. So today is all about Favors! Everybody’s got them, everybody wants them, and nobody knows what to do! So here are a few medal winning ideas.

Often your place card setting can serve dual function as your favor as well as the reception guide for seating your guest. Others select edible favors as a choice. I think it’s one of the best since there are not trinkets for guest to forget or lug home. But if you want to ensure your edible favors have a stunning presence, the favor box is just as important as the delectable flavors inside.

There are also numerous adorable ideas to express love in the air. Cute heart shaped whisks and measuring spoons can be a great gift for the party. And then there are numerous whimsical and fun favors, like the grater, salad tongs, travel suitcase, shakers, and monitor dusters.

The Gold, the Silver, and the Bronze—winners base on uniqueness, originality, and fun. And just as subjective as most artistic events are in the Olympics, these are the winners, well at least for today!

(purple box, gold medal, gold key, gold box, treasure chest, pink and aqua box, lanterns, asian boxes, heart whisk)

(silver medal, wine cork, measuring spoons, grater, suitcase, salad tongs, white box, asian wine cork, diamond, shaker)

(brownie bites, jars, bronze medal, golf balls, box, bamboo chest, monitor dusters, fortune cookies, pink and black box)

. . . just a few thoughts and ideas for you to ponder. For even more ideas and savings on favors, check out Beau-Coup, one of our favorite spots to shop!
