Since I’ve had the pleasure of working as a bridal consultant for a boutique and in the fashion industry, I thought it might be time to touch on one of the most important tasks you as a bride face when planning your wedding—THE DRESS. Ladies I know that as a bride to be, you not only want to make yourself beautiful and stunning, during your ceremony, but also keep your budget balanced, and struggle to actual make that happen. So here are a few tips to balance you desire to look stunning without breaking the bank,

1. When to start your wedding dress purchasing?
Giving yourself plenty of time to choose your dream & affordable wedding dress is very important. Rushing into a local wedding dress store several days before your big day is not a good idea. Rushing equals A LOT of extra money to shell out! Start shopping for your wedding address at least 8 months before your wedding ceremony and place your order at least 4 month before that day. Make sure you let you’re consultant know ahead of time if you are running close to the wedding to find out what the “lead” time is for the designer. Each designer has a different time frame they request for an order, and depending on their side, this time frame fluctuates, sometimes addition months of additional time to your order to receive the gown. Additionally, you need to allow for at least 3 weeks for alterations that will need to be done to ensure the couture and custom fit gown for your dramatic walk down the aisle.

2. Save your money on wedding dress
Falling in love with your dress is one thing, but affording it is another. Keep in mind, the most expensive one is not always the best one. Many brides find wedding dresses in places other than your standard wedding boutique. There are thousands of shops online offering discounts on designer gowns; sample sales, TheThriftShopper, and Ebay can also be great resources. It’s not uncommon to find one with different prices on those sites. So make sure you’ve shopped around before placing your order.

3. Make a Blueprint under Professional Suggestions.
To find the wedding dress that suits you best, take both your figure and your personality into consideration. “Am I tall or medium-height? Am I full-figured or delicate-shaped? Am I introverted or open-minded?” You should get clear answers to those questions in your mind and then turn to experienced wedding consultants for help. They will tell you what kinds of dresses will make you feel confident and beautiful. With the help of their professional suggestions, you can make a brief blueprint, which will prevent you from getting dazed when facing thousands of wedding dresses on the market.

4. Physical comfort comes first.
On your big day, I know you want to catch everyone’s eyes but that shouldn’t subject you to your physical discomfort! If you’re tugging your dress up or have boning jutting into your ribs, it will be unable to dance and laugh, not to mention posing for photos. To avoid such embarrassment, keep in mind a style that will suit your day – for example, a shorter tea-length or cocktail length dress is best for a beach wedding. If you like to dance and anticipate doing the limbo, perhaps a strapless dress will say “goodbye” to you.

5. Don’t forget to wash before wear.

Last but not least, keep in mind that your wedding dress is made in workshop, not in bacteria-free operation room. It goes though long journey before you getting it. For the sake of safety, consider having the dress professionally cleaned before you wear it!
